Betfair Hurdle – 13/02/2016

This weekends highlight is the Betfair Hurdle which is always a really competitive race usually won by an improving horse on the upgrade. Past winners include Zarkandar, My Tent Or Yours and Make A Stand amongst others. Usually one of the lowly weighted horses tend to succeed and I have scoured through the field and narrowed it down to 3 possible winners highlighted below:

Sternrubin at 9/1

STERNRUBIN dead-heated in the Ladbroke last time out at Ascot and has a very fair chance. He is a free running sort but ran a great race in the Ladbroke fighting back to Dead-Heat so even though he has risen 8lb he should still be the best of Philip Hobbs runners in my opinion and Richard Johnson looks to be favouring him at present which is a huge plus. A very decent bet at 9/1.

Starchitect at 16/1

There has been support for this David Pipe horse this week so he is obviously well fancied to run a big race. He looks to be well handicapped on his debut for the Pipe Stable. He does lack a bit of experience on soft ground but looks to have plenty of scope for improvement having been a decent juvenile horse for his previous trainer with his last run being a fall at Aintree last season. Once again his odds are far too long at 16/1 and this is a fine each way pick for the Betfair Hurdle.

Winner Massagot at 25/1

Alan Kings horses are having a great time at present and his runner here looks well handicapped. He ran a poor race last time in the Ladbroke but we can forgive this. WINNER MASSAGOT still looks open to improvement judging by the way he won first time out at Ascot beating Rayvin Black by 7 lengths and the ground wont be a problem for him as he goes well in soft. He is still a young horse on the upgrade and at 25/1 I’ll be snapping that right up.

In conclusion I feel the horses I have mentioned above should give backers a run for their money in this wide open handicap which has all kinds of value.
