GARDE LE VICTOIRE is all class and is head and shoulders above the field but he does carry the penalty of giving lots of weight all round. I think he is more than capable of doing so against a field of mediocre horses. He ran off top weight at this track in the Ladbroke Hurdle just before xmas. He ran a mighty race to finish just 7 lengths off Bayan in 5th place. He has gone up 1lb for that performance but a repeat surely wins this race. The race before the Ladbroke was the Greatwood Hurdle at Cheltenham and he put in another top performance to win the race beating Vaniteux by 1 1/4 lengths. I really can’t believe the bookies are willing to let this horse go off 4/1 as I have him at 7/4. The way I look at it is if Vaniteux was in the race he would be evens favourite yet our selection beat him fair and square and only gave him 3lb. Put it this way at 4/1 he is a very strong bet for me.
