What a great Royal Ascot it was. It lived up to all my expectations and that win on Friday has to go down as One of my greatest betting achievements. For me personally it was by know means the biggest amount I have won at £900 but the shear volume of 200 people coming together and winning around £250k from all my hard work, has made me a very happy man indeed. If I am being honest it not just about the gambling for me. I get a great buzz from tipping horses and it is a job I love to do. Providing winners and an excellent service is something I take great pride in. It is also something I am very passionate about.
I hope you have enjoyed your Royal Ascot experience, it has been a pleasure working with you all. Some of the feedback and kind words have been overwhelming and I am glad JPW lived up to your expectations. Below you will find a lowdown of all our selections from the last 5 days. I hope this gave you a taster of what JPW is all about and hopefully look forward to working together in the near future.

ROYAL ASCOT LOWDOWN

3:05 COVENTRY STAKES
The Royal Ascot got of a flyer for us with WOW SIGNAL winning convincingly in the Coventry Stakes. Hopefully a lot were on the 13/2 advised the night before. It was a step up in class for him but as stated the way he won by 9 lengths at Ayr was eyecatching and I dont care what class it is if you win by that margin over 6f you have a touch of class. His breeding suggested he would like the track aswell and I suppose all the signals were there. He is a horse I will definately be keeping an eye on in the future but not sure what price he will next run so it may pay to see how he develops into a 3 year next year.
I would say WAR ENVOY is a bit better than his 9th place suggests. Should of probably been ridden a bit more handier has he was out the back alot of the time. He will rack up a few wins over in Ireland so will get some easy profits in the bank for sure.
KING’S STAND STAKES
SOLE POWER proved his class yet again. How many times are the bookies going to give him away at 5/1. Silly price for someone who won race last year and who’s form has always been solid. He travelled with confidence and when Richard Hughes pushed the button he showed a devastating turn of foot. SOLE POWER should be given more respect for he has achieved year in year out. Lets hope the bookies underate him next time as as long as we have fast ground I will always be on board.
SHEA SHEA was dissapointing and now looks a horse who is on the decline. A horse I will stay clear of unless the odds are right. He may of put in a bad run ut if the bookies get silly we may be able to seek double figures next time out.369-1
5:00 ASCOT STAKES
LIEUTENTANT MILER and PLINTH were both dissapointing. I will be keeping an eye on both of there handicap marks. Maybe they needed a bit of juice in the ground both being hurdlers through the winter. They will remain best watched for now.
DAY 2
2:30 JERSEY STAKES
Hamden Al Maktoum had 1st and 2nd and it was a shame our selection MUWAARY was 2nd. Put in a good performance but didnt get have the turn of foot of the winner. Will be campaigned in decent Group 1s and 2s but may be a horse who always bumps into 1 horse too good.
WAR TIME and REDBROOK are both horses best watched they may interest me in handicap’s but there mark may be a little to high.
4:25 DUKE OF CAMBRIDGE STAKES
I was quite surprised by how well Intergral won the race and I suppose I underestimated her. SKY LANTERN was dissapointing and doesnt the same horse this year. These fillies are funny animals sometimes and a ot don’t run well throughout the summer but then peak again come end of season. CERTIFY ran a terrible race also and she is a horse who is basically not good enough at this level. A race I got completely wrong by my high standards.
5:00 ROYAL HUNT CUP
CHILL THE KITE was the only horse to give us a return on the day finishing 2nd. He probably could have won the race had he had a clearer run. He came between horses to challenge 1/2 f out but by then the winner had already gone clear. Be good to see how what the handicapper has done to his mark, if he stays the same and price is right will definately be on next time. Hopefully everyone was on the 18/1 advised.
ABSEIL was not good enough simple as that. Will win races again as Sir Michael Stoute is pretty shrewd when protecting his horses handicap marks.

DAY 3
3:05 TERCENTENARY STAKES
POSTPONED ran a decent race and l thought he was the winner 1f out. Didn’t get clear run on the inside which didn’t help his chance’s but I still don’t think he would of got to the impressive winner Cannock Chase who always seems to be finding plenty when in front.12/1 was advised he night before. OBILERATOR was poor and was tailed off in last place. No excuses really but his previous form suggests something wasnt right.
3:45 RIBBLESDALE STAKES
This was a race I was super confident about before the day started and I would say probably my most frustrating race at Ascot as I was on the winner Bracelet last time in the 1000 guineas. I was confident VAZIRA or INCHILA were too good for the field but I got it wrong this time. More so with VAZIRA who I thought was given a terrible ride by Christophe Soumillion but thats racing. INCHILA was travelling the best 2 furlongs out and I was counting my winnings but something went wrong and he was pulled up quickly. Have not heard a lot since about any injury’s but the way Jamie Spencer pulled her up suggests he was not happy and something went wrong.
4:25 GOLD CUP
This was a thrilling gold cup and we were so unlucky with last years winner ESTIMATE who went down by just a neck. We were on the E/W at 11/1 the night before but this was a race of what if. I thought Ryan Moore gave ESTIMATE a great ride but it was the tough Leading Light who just stuck his neck in front. ESTIMATE will be back here in October I imagine so be good to see who he clashes with.

DAY 4
Well what can I say about this day amazing stuff especially with the amounts of money won by people.
3:05 WOLFERTON HANDICAP
It all started with CONTRIBUTOR who we had at 14/1 the night before. Everything was there for him. It was only the year before he was 4th in a Group 2 at Ascot yet 5lb higher in the handicap and dropped to a Class 1 the bookies were offering ridiculous odds. CONTRIBUTOR basically won as he liked.
3:45 KING EDWARD VII STAKES
EAGLE TOP was pure class and he won as he liked. 12/1 was huge for a horse who was picked out by William Buick over Western Hymn who actually finished 6th in a Derby. I also remember John Gosden putting him up 2 weeks ago in the racing post as his horse to follow so everything pointed towards him. There is talk of the Leger and this is definately a horse I will be following.
4:25 CORONATION STAKES
The day went from good to amazing when RIZEENA was roared home to make it the perfect day for JPW. I knew the horse was a good thing by how highly Clive Brittain goes on about her. He is a shrewd man who is respected and I like to listen when he has something to say. He faniced him big time for the 1000 guineas so has to fancy him for this. He won at 11/2 but 15/2 was advised the night before. The amount of accumulators that went in on this horse was amazing and I have a big chuffed face writing this lol. Well Done all.

DAY 5
Not the best of days as could only manage 1 place but we only tipped in 2 races.
3:45 HARDWICKE STAKES
Hands up I got this one wrong as Telescope was pure class winning in trememdous style. I said Ryan Moore got this One wrong but clearly not as HILSTAR could only finish 2nd to make it a 1-2 for Sir Michael Stoute.
EKTIHAAM was dissapointing and trailed in last. I have no excuses just simply not good enough.
4:25 DIAMOND JUBILEE STAKES
ASTAIRE could only finish 6th and maybe bein a 3 year old was a year to early. Still I rate this horse highly and will be keeping a close eye on him.
MONTIRIDGE was a big price at 28/1 a price I felt was worth exploiting. It was not to be but will now wait for this horse to drop in class.

Thats it guys for this year and I hope it was everything you thought it would be. Look forward to hopefully working with you in the future. Any Testimonials for the website would be appreciated.

Kind Regards

James Walsh
